Mariculture Sawmill
(No it doesn’t do what you think it does!)
You probably read that title and thought of the Sawmill from Thermal Expansion, or the (Precision) Sawmill from Mekanism, well, this Sawmill doesn’t cut wood, well it can, but… Anyway, the Sawmill from Mariculture is a unique machine that any experienced player would probably never pay attention to because of it’s misleading name, but this machine is very different from what you’d expect!
Now, like most machines out there, this one requires power to work, Mariculture machines will ONLY accept Redstone Flux, they will reject MJ/ EU power, so keep that in mind. They work great with Thermal Expansion Dynamos, Energy Cells, or Mekanism for instance, so keep that in mind!
Now, when you interact with the machine, you may feel a bit intimidated, but it’s quite simple, you will need plans, and there are several plans for different types of blocks you can make, from the simple basic block, to slabs, to stairs, to light sources, to even RF blocks! I grabbed the block plan to showcase, a few more are in my inventory to give you an idea of the possibilities, and to show off how they look.
So if you didn’t catch it already, this machine makes custom blocks out of anything you so desire, as far as I can tell, it works with all blocks from other mods. Just do be careful and don’t chop up your Ender Quarries or Macerators, I can’t imagine that would be very practical!
Now. once you add your plan, you can gather your supplies to make your custom block, for this spotlight I chose to make a block of all the copper ores my modpack has to offer. As a note, you can choose to use a different block for each side of the block. The top and bottom faces are, naturally, the top and bottom blocks, and the side faces are North, East, South, and West in that order, though if you get confused, you can attach a hopper to the machine to input a block and it will get placed in the correct slot of the side you want the block to be facing. You can use different blocks for each side, use the same for multiple sides, it’s up to you!
If your machine has power, then after about 10-20 seconds, your custom block will be finished! Naturally, you get 6 for the basic block plan.
Now when you place your block down, you can see the different textures on every side. This block will act like a normal decorative block, no extra abilities or functions, simple, basic block. The possibilities for textures and shapes are limited only by your imagination! Go nuts!
Another quick example of what you can make with just the basic block plan is a one way way glass block, again, place the blocks wherever you’d like, and your finished block will come out exactly as you made it!
A secret (well, Waila gives it away…) window that can only be seen through one side!
Mariculture is only in LightningZBolt’s LightlyTested pack found on the Downloads page. To learn more about this mod, check out the wiki (outdated) here, or the forum page here!
